Dramatic and devastating scenes unfolded in our home marina of Port Camille Rayon, Golfe Juan earlier this month when a fire broke out onboard the 42 meter charter vessel "Lalibela" whilst she was berthed on the outside wall.
The team from Camille Rayon responded immediately, following the port’s emergency response plan. They started by isolating the boat to avoid the spread of fire, then towed nearby vessels to safety whilst deploying floating booms to curb the spread of pollution from the stricken vessel around “Lalibela”.
The port team worked seamlessly with the local firefighters and the port supervisors of Golfe- Juan - Vallauris so that everyone could work safely in the best conditions. This faultless cooperation helped limit possible pollution spills around the “Lalibela” aided by "eco-tank" who used an Oléophilic skimmer which quickly separates water from diesel.
Works are now underway to secure the stricken vessel so that she can be towed to another location.
